Thomas Edison Carbon Filament Lamp

This lamp was found in a store in Mt Vernon, Missouri in 1985. It was carefully
transported back from Missouri. carefully packed in carry on luggage for it's trip to
California.

It was manufactured before 1910. This can be determined by the use of platinum wires
that went through the glass. The platinum wires were embedded in the glass stem and welded
to on the outside and inside with copper.

I have included a higher resolution shot to enable the wires and welds to be seen in the
close up photo.

The lamp was brought up to 100 volts when I first fired it up. The voltage applied to it
on these photos was 55 volts. This enables the filament to be seen more clearly plus my
cautiousness to prevent burn out.

There is probably not too many of these original lamps around that still function.
